The Patriot Act The Patriot Act was the solution that the United States government gave to the terrified american people after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But is it what the people wanted? To be completely stripped of their freedom? The Patriot Act was signed into law by the United States congress on October 26th, 2001. The act was printed in the middle of the night and voted on that very same day. Like most other bills that make their way through congress, not one of the members of congress actually read the Patriot Act before the vote, and the fearful majority still decided to vote yes. What is contained in this act? 30 years of past spying legislation that congress has declared unconstitutional because they violated human rights and the United States constitution. The following is a list of Bill of Rights violations by the Patriot Act: First Ammendment Violation: “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech” Librarians must turn over book lists and internet records without warrant and under penalty of imprisonment for not cooperating. Are we to believe this law actually catches would-be terrorists?? Fourth Ammendment Violation: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects. The Patriot act allows for illegal search of your home and property without your knowledge or consent, and completely without a search warrant or probable cause. Agents can secretly enter any home in the United States for the purpose of gathering computer files, reading materials and any other information about that person learned from an illegally conducted examination of their private property. Fifth Ammendment Violation: No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law. The Patriot act makes it legal for anyone to be detained indefinitely, without the right to a lawyer, without the ability to face your accusers, without access to the courts and judges, and completely without any form of due process. The Sixth Ammendment guarantees anybody to a speedy and public trial, the Eighth Ammendment guarantees no cruel or unusual punishment, and the Thirteenth Ammendment declares that nobody shall be punished without being properly convicted first. All of these have been violated by The Patriot Act. It appears the United States is quickly heading towards a police-state, "Show your papers" mentality, that is, if you don't consider it to be already. UCLA Student Tasered in Library for not showing "his papers" In addition to the incorrectly named Patriot Act, the following executive orders were issued by President Bush after 9/11 occurred: Executive order 10990 Allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control highways and seaports. Executive order 10995 Allows the government to seize and control all communications media (Telephone, internet, tv). Executive order 10997 Allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals. Executive order 10998 allows the government to seize all means of transportation, including personal cars, trucks or vehicles of any kind. Executive order 10999 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms. Executive order 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision. Executive order 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions. Executive order 11002 Designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons. Executive order 11003 Allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft. Executive order 11004 Allows the housing and finance authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, and designate areas to be abandoned. Executive order 11005 Allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities. Executive order 11921 Allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to take control of all financial institutions in the United States. Now that the United States is under a declared state of emergency, the president can, at any time declare Martial Law. Martial Law definition: Rule by military authorities, imposed on a civilian population especially in time of war or when civil authority has broken down. No president should EVER have that power. I think it's pretty clear that 9/11 was a classic false flag event designed to enact legislation that would expand government and governmental control over the people. Despite the implications of this - Fear not! - for laws are just words on paper and mean nothing if there are no people willing to enforce them. <Next> |
