A Remedy for Eye Glasses and Contacts

Meir Schneider was born legally blind and had undergone five eye operations by the age of seven in attempts
to remove his cataracts and restore his vision. Although these surgeries removed most of his cataracts, they
shattered his lenses, created thick scar tissue, and limited his spectrum of vision to only light, shadow and
vague shapes.
Doctors pronounced his condition hopeless and he was certified permanently legally blind.
When he turned 17 years old, he learned the Bates system of eye exercises, and practised with extreme
determination (sometimes up to 13 hours a day). Today, Meir Schneider drives a car without the need
for
glasses or corrective lenses.
Today he holds a PhD and is the author of many books and a video called
Yoga For Your Eyes, which is
an educational video instructing the viewer how to restore their visual acuity.

Relax your eyes
Probably the most significant reason that people develop bad eyesite is the fact that we are always straining
our
eyes when we stare
at televisions,
computer screens or books.
Our ancestors didn't have these close proximity luxuries to stare at and would mostly be looking far off into
the distance their entire lives.
It is for this reason that our eyes are overstrained and consequently, our
vision becomes weaker.

When we are focused on close objects, our Ciliary muscles flex to shape the lens.
When we look afar, the Ciliary muscles relax and make the lenses less convex,
permitting us to focus on
objects far away.
So when we spend most of our time straining our Ciliary muscles to see up close,
why are we surprised when our vision begins to weaken?
The first step towards correcting your vision is to relax your eyes.
Using small circles and one or two fingers, gently massage around your eyes - Massage on top of your eyebrows, following them
all the way down and
around to the zygomatic bone underneath. Also try massaging your entire face and head. To feel your face and eye muscles in a relaxed state will make
you more conscious of when they are tensed and straining.
Do this a few times everyday, and you should instantly notice better
vision and perhaps stress
relief as well.
To relax your Ciliary muscles, spend time looking into the distance during the day. Look far and wide, and feel your eyes relaxing when you do this.
Other techniques to strengthen your vision include:
- Roll your eyes as wide as you can in both directions - this will stretch your ocular muscles.
- Block your strong eye and look far off into the distance with your weaker eye - notice all of the details. This will balance your vision and inhibit one of your
eyes visually dominating the other.
- Put your finger about one foot in front of your face, and rotate your head smoothly from side to side while
staring only at your finger.
Then try making other patterns as well, ensuring your eyes are on your finger.
- When you're out in the sun, relax your eyes as opposed to squinting them.
As Dr. William Bates said,
"Squint or see well".
The most important aspect for you to realize is that your eye-site is a miraculous gift. Become conscious of
when your eye and face muscles are tense
and straining, and release that tension. When you practise these
techniques consistently, you will notice an improvement in your vision and overall eye
health.
